Andrea has always had a love and passion for advocating and saving animals. She has always dreamed of a way that she could help animals, particularly vulnerable livestock, that needed a safe haven. Then, in 2022, she found out that the lesson horse her daughter Ella had been riding was ready to step down and in need of a place to live out his retirement. So, she begged her husband and came up with a plan. Chance was going to come home and live out his golden years being a pampered horse for the rest of his days! Her dreams were slowly starting to become a reality! While searching for a companion for Chance, she was asked if she would be willing to take a horse that had a pretty rough past. He would need to have surgery to remove one of his eyes from an old injury that was causing him a lot of pain and discomfort. They agreed and Sunny aka Walkin’ on Sunshine was now the newest member of the Paciga family! This is how A Chance of Sunshine Farm started, and in 2024 officially became A Chance of Sunshine Farm and Sanctuary. We currently have, 3 horses, a Shetland pony, 2 donkeys, 16 goats, 5 pigs, 3 rabbits, 16 chickens and 2 turkeys that have made their home here and are loved dearly!
Here at A Chance of Sunshine Farm and Sanctuary, our animals take up 100% of our priority. With a bunch of happy animals comes a bunch of time attending the farm. From sunup to sundown, our family is working hands on to keep the farm in shape. From feeding, to mucking, to washing, to even making repairs on fencing, there is always something that needs to be done. Happy animals don't just exist, they are made. That is why here at the farm we put our animals' health and happiness as our #1 focus. Taking care of the farm is challenging, rewarding, and always full of surprises. Each animal receives personalized attention and care tailored to their needs. From the moment they arrive, we focus on building trust through gentle handling, consistency, and a calm environment. Every animal that arrives here has a story, and our mission is to make sure it ends in peace, care, and unconditional love.
Our animals come to us from looking for a place for retirement, to rescues, and from kill shelters, and we have never been happier to give them their new home. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and nurturing environment where our animals can thrive beyond injuries, illness, and any other unfortunate condition they may have come to us with. It is important to our farm and sanctuary that even farm animals are given a second chance, no matter their situation.
